About The PC Software This version supports all latest versions of Windows (XP SP2 and on, Vista and Win 7), and kicks in automatically in every environment that it is available for editing. It connects to applications such as MS-Word, MS-Outlook, Internet Explorer, Web Mails (IE 6,7,and 8, Firefox 3.0 and on and Google Chrome for now with limitations), and all sorts of Instant Messaging software such as Skype (version 4.0.0.206 and on) and Windows Messenger, as well as in Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter. At any moment the software can be disabled or minimized (by clicking its icon, or by hitting the ESC button), if it gets in the way or becomes too intrusive. It can also be disabled from working in specific applications by configuring the software properties. The software requires an online connection to our servers, but the traffic generated is modest and consumes almost no bandwidth. Also all communication between the Client and the Servers is encrypted, and any attempt to reverse engineer the protocol will fail. A.I.type is committed NOT to store any information sent to it's servers, and will not make any use of the data but for it's own statistical language analysis and monitoring user experience. Software InstallationIn order to use our software please install the client on your computer from the AItype web site. The software requires the Microsoft Dot-Net Framework. The installation process will identify if the Dot-Net Framework exists on your computer, and if necessary, it will install it. If the Dot-Net Framework is not present, the process will start automatically and Dot-Net Framework will be installed. The installation process might take up to 20 minutes to complete (first time only). The installation process will ask if you would like to save the Setup file on your computer (Desktop for example), or you can choose to run it directly from the site. You may choose to save it on your computer if you would like to use the software on another computer (laptop for example). You'd then have to register with your email on your other computer as well. The first time the software runs, it will require you to enter the Email address you used to register for the AItype Beta Program. If you haven't registered, the software will report an error when trying to match your email. You may choose to use the same registration on your other computer (one registration per user). Once started, the software will initialize displaying the initial graphic screen and an icon will appear minimized on the task bar. At any time, you may right click on the icon to get to the software properties in order to change the configuration, or to disable the software (the icon will appear with an X on top). You can also prevent it from launching when the computer starts up. At this point you should choose your translation language Note: The translation language selected by default is the first non-English language that is installed on your machine. Writing with the SoftwareThe software will try to smart-suggest the next words by "understanding" the context of the entire sentence. All you have to do is start writing and the software will try to help you by suggesting the next words. If the word that you are looking for is not on the list, by typing the initial characters of the word you are looking for, the software will look for a suitable match. The initial characters do NOT necessarily have to be identical to those of the word, or even consecutive characters (i.e. by typing 'wkp' the software will offer 'Wikipedia' as one of the suggestions). As long as you key in the characters, the software will try to suggest the next words, and to best match for the current word. You can either use the mouse to click on the selected word, or use the up/down arrows to navigate, and hit Enter to select the word. Right arrow will open the next suggestion list while you are on the list, and hitting the left key will 'shrink' back the list. If cursor lays on the text , you can gain back control on the right and left arrows to scroll the text. By pressing the Shift button before selecting a word, the first character in the word, gets capitalized. 1. Writing Using the Software 2. Using the Software Prediction3. Using the Hints4. 1. Writing Using the Software In order to write with the software, just launch it (or leave it on 'Run on Windows StartUp'), and start typing on the selected application. The software will pop out with a list containing words in the context of the text that is written. You can either select the words from the list , or just ignore the list and continue to write like you normally would. You can set the software to be less intrusive , if it gets in the way, by setting several parameters in the configuration (see below). If you type fast enough , the software will wait until you pause to suggest the next words from the list. Note , that by eliminating the suggestion list , you might loose words that are common to be used in the context you are writing, so a major function of the software might be lost.
For exploring the different ways to write with the software, please refer to the 'How do I work with it?' section , in the FAQ page.

2. Using the Software Prediction If you think that you might sometimes need the help of the software to remind you of a forgotten word, or to look for a proper word while typing, you should leave the default setting as is. Just start writing as you normally would, and as long as you are confident with your typing , you can ignore the list. Once you get to a word that you are not certain of, either write the first letters of the word, or look at the suggestion list to select the right word (or both). The software may offer you a "better word" than you thought about, or just suggest the word you intended to pick, with the right spelling. Either click with the mouse , or scroll down with the arrows to select the word, and continue typing.

3.Using the Hints
The software tries to suggest the most often used words in the context of the sentence. However, there will be times when the software won't be able to offer the right word. In these cases, writing a "hint" such as the first character, or first few characters will "filter" out the most relevant words, in their context. Usually , the 1st and 2nd characters will bring the right word suggested from the list. In rare cases, more than two characters will be needed in order to suggest the right word. Moreover, if you type the characters you are sure of in the order in which they appear in the word, this will give the software a better filter for the suggestion list. For example : keying in 'wkp' will signal the software that the word that we're looking for might be 'Wikipedia'. This is how by typing the minimal number of characters and selecting the right word from the list, by a mouse click, you can gain better writing quality, faster and with more confidence.

4.Using the "floating words" (multi selection)
There is an option to write the entire sentence without making a final selection of the words building this sentence. In order to do that, just start typing and scroll down with the arrows to the selected word. Once you reach the right word, instead of hitting the Enter key , or mouse clicking on the word, hit the Right Arrow Key. This will open another suggestion list based on the previous selection. Again, you can either click on the next word, or navigate using the arrows to the right word , and again, using the right arrow, while the selected word is highlighted , you'll get another list, and so on and so forth. This will continue on , until a space bar is hit , or Esc button is pressed. You can go back and make a different selections if you don't like the way the sentence came out. Just hit the left arrow, and go "backwards" with the list, selecting this time , other words, and building a different sentence.

5.Using the Translation
Before you start, you should set the Translation language to your own language. By default, the software will translate into the the second language (other than English), installed in the Windows OS. If there is no second language installed, the default language will be Spanish. Get into the Software Properties , language tab, and select out of 35 different languages and countries , the one that most fits your needs. Once selected, hit OK to close the property page, and start typing. The software will display on top of the selected word, the translation to the specific word to your local language, in so called tool tip. This will help you choose the right word. If the selected word is NOT translated right (i.e. get a' -' instead of regular translation), this mean that the translator cannot translate the word because it's misspelled , or does NOT exist. In other words, this selection is bad, and you should avoid using it. In addition the word you just typed (or selected) is being translated , and it's translation appears on top of the list.

5.Using the Cross Translation There are times when a user cannot remember the word in English, but sure knows how it is spelled out in his/her own language. For this we've implemented the 'Cross Translation'. In a situation such as this , all you need to do is write the word in your own language, place the cursor on top of the word, and press the globe icon. A.I.type Text Predictor will translate the word into English, based on the context of the sentence.

6. Writing using the mouse only
You can actually write from now on, using the mouse. By keying in the initial characters with one hand, and clicking with the mouse using the other hand you can actually "punch in" the words instead of keying them in (also good for people with disability problems).

7. Disabling the client
If you would like to disable the list either temporarily or in the current document , you can do it in various ways. By either hitting the Esc button, or clicking on the minimize symbol located on top of the list, the list is minimized, and temporarily disabled. It can be restored back by hitting the Enter key or space bar, or by hitting the small arrows button pointing to the right. Once clicking on the icon located on the task bar, or on the X symbol on top of the list, the software will be disabled for the specific session. To disable the software in the specific session, you can either do that from the software menu, or from the property page. You can also hit the X sign on the Right top corner of the list. An X sign on the icon , will appear on the task bar upon disabling the client. By clicking on the icon itself, you can toggle Disable/Enable. Ctrl ~ will toggle between Disable/Enable of the Client. By Quitting the Software, the software exits completely, and needs to be executed again in order to be activated. Upon Disabling the client , a pop up reminder will pop out. For eliminating it , just check 'Don't show this message again' check box.

8. Using the Confidence Level Indication
The software will try to suggest words in the context of what was written. The software will indicate , according to a sophisticated algorithm, the probability of this word in the context of the sentence, diplayed in color codes: Green - High Probability, Yellow = Medium and Red = Low probability.

9. Ignored Application Option
The software will try to connect to every application that runs on your computer. If connection to the application is successful , it'll try to suggest words in the current editor. The software will not try to connect to applications that do not use an editor. If you would like to eliminate the software from being activated in a specific application, just select "Manage Ignore Applications" from the menu, and disable the activation by check marking the right check box. You can also go to the Property Page, get into the "Ignored Application" tab and select the right application. You can also use the 'Ignore Current Application' on a specific application you edit with, by right clicking the software menu, and marking it.
By Default, there are no Ignored Applications.

|
10. Ignored Language Option
If Windows OS comes with multiple language support, the software will detect all installed languages and if supported, will try to work in those langauges. In order to eliminate the activation of the software in a specific language , either select it from the menu "By Ignoring Current Language", or open the Property Page ,and get into the Language Tab. Then, select it from the Language list. You can also use the 'Ignore Current Language' on a specific language you are editing, by right clicking the software menu, and marking it. In the current version , the software will ignore automatically any language that is installed in the OS and does not use the latin character set (such as Chinese, Greek or Japanese).

11. Transparent Look
While working on a written text the list may cover the written text, and this may feel somewhat uncomfortable. For this we have an option to make the entire list somewhat transparent, so the text behind will be seen. In order to tune the Transparency Level, get into the Software Properties, and in the Main tab, drag the bar to the desired level. By dragging the bar to the right, the list gets darker. By dragging to the left it gets lighter.

13.Number of Characters
The software can be adjusted to the number of characters typed before the list will pop out. For example, if a user would like to get suggestions only after typing three characters, the parameter called: 'Suggest after X Characters' should be set to 3. The list will then pop out only after 3 characters are typed. This option is used if a user feels that he doesn't want to be bothered by words that contain less than x characters, and they would like to get the suggestions for longer words only. The Default setting is 0 characters (starts suggesting from 1st char). This is for making sure predictions are made with no hints at all.

|

|
|
14. Prediction Speed
The user may choose the desired "speed" of the software response. Based on the speed of one's typing, the user can select for the list to pop out within a certain time. The time resolution is set to parts of a second (200ms, 300ms etc.) If set to higher delay, the software will delay from popping out the list until the time elapses. The default setting is 200ms('appears after a short pause in your typing') ,and can be Custom set to the desired speed.

|

|
|
15. Prediction Speed Customization
The software 'learns' the user's 'Typing Speed'. It will try to avoid popping up if user sets the preference to 'Fast Typing', but slows down momentarily. This is done to prevent list from being intrusive when user slows down their typing speed unintentionally.
